Things not being able to be done in a method but might be done in an another method

Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política is a project began from October, 2010 by Yasuto Masumoto. A wide range of experimental sessions, such as classes and workshops in universities and professional schools or in-group playings, take place as Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política. The subjects is mainly about underlying problems in daily life that’s been on his and the participant’s mind. Apparently, it is difficult to find out a definite connection among the treated problems in each event but rather it is better to say that he keeps to put something definite on hold. Therefore, this project through on the whole seems to be naive and elusive activity, but it seems to be at least predicated follows: It is that things not being able to be done in a method but might be done in an another method, or that things not working with an idea but might be working with an another idea. In other words, this project is an attempt to explore such possibilities.

The name, Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política is in portuguese sampling from the name of Samba school in Brazil besides the design of each event often reflect situations found in the Samba school that both amateurs and professionals studies together. It is neither a relationship between teachers and students nor organizers and participants. It is a frame to study something together from the relationship of teaching / being taught with respect to one another.

Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política that takes place at Antenna Media is a monthly event in which there is no objects and phenomena happens for viewing, but just participations in a situation to do something together. Then approaching him / her problems or doubts in a serious manner. Every time it might not to be done well but it is absolutely full of problems in the world that can in no way be solved with an existing frame. That would be something Masumoto challenges to be addressed.

ある方法ではできないことが、別の方法ではできるかもしれないこと

「Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política」は、2010年10月から増本泰斗がはじめたプロジェクトである。大学や専門学校での授業やワークショップ、あるいは仲間内で突発的にはじめられる遊戯的な行為など、実験的なことを行う様々な集まりを「Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política」と名付け活動を行っている。 主題となるのは日々の生活に潜む問題など、増本自身が気になること、参加者や学生の関心事など様々である。一見すると、扱われる主題それぞれに明確な繋がりは見いだすことは難しい。いやむしろ明確な何かを掲げることをずっと保留していると言った方が適当かもしれない。そのため総体としては、極めてナイーブでどこまでも捉えどころのない活動に見える。けれども、少なくとも次のようなことが前提となっているように感じる。それは、ある方法では出来ないことが、別の方法ではできるかもしれないこと。あるいは、ある考え方では行き詰まることが、別の考え方では開けていくかもしれないこと。そのような可能性を模索することである。

「Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política」という名前は、ブラジルのサンバ学校の名称をサンプリングしたものである。また、サンバ学校に見られる初心者と熟練者が共に学ぶ状況が、「集まり」の設計にしばしば反映されていることも付け加えておきたい。それは、先生／生徒でも主催者／参加者の関係でもない。互いに教え教えられる関係から「何か」を共に悩み考えていくような枠組みであると言える。

アンテナメディアで開催される「Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Política」は、そのような活動を毎月１回だけ開催し続けてみる企画である。何か物質を鑑賞するわけではない、何か現象を目撃するわけでもない、たたただある状況に参加し共に何かを行うこと。そして、彼／彼女の問題や疑問に真摯に寄り添ってみること。毎回上手に接近できるわけではないかもしれない。けれども世の中は既存の枠組みではどうしようもないことだらけである。増本はそここそに取り組もうとしているのだろう。
